I have a 2017 Nvidia Shield.

[Link: en.wikipedia.org]

The Shield uses bluetooth for its remote

I have a MX 900.

I want to connect the MX900 to the Shield via RF vs IR as the Shield is in a cabinet.

I have contacted Universal Remote, 3 times (email and calling tech support) with no response.

Anyone on the board successfully connected the MX 900 to the Shield with RF, and if so, what RF device did you use on the Shield.

Thanks !!!!

You can't. RF is proprietary. You cannot connect a URC remote directly to anything via RF. Only via URCs RF to IR basestations

To expand on what he said - there is NO remote that can connect to another device thru RF, unless it was made to do so for that device.
There are of course a few exceptions to this rule that have been seen over the years. But it is rare and only involved 1 or 2 other devices.

The 2017 edition of the Shield has NO way to control it with IR from the factory. You have to purchase a separate 'USB to IR' dongle to plug into the Shield, in order to control it with IR.

What you then need is either the URC MRF-260 or MRF-350 RF base station. The MX-900 connects RF to the base station, then an IR emitter connects from the base station to the Shield's 'USB to IR' dongle.
Or you can get an inexpensive IR repeater and use that instead of the URC base station.

Thanks for your reply.

So I will order a IR receiver for the Shield.

The set up already has a RF Base station and IR detectors on the AVR, the BR player etc.

Thanks again!!!

Get a FLIRC - it is perfect for the shield!

This thing looks like a keyboard to the shield, but responds to IR commands that you program using a PC. genius device.
