So I have been working with with URC remotes since early 2007, I will never say I am a pro, but with a lot of reading and questions answered here in the forums I can say I can almost always achieve my goal. In 2013-17, I manage to use an MX980 and Mx5000 to control my whole house (UPB lighting, HAI Alarms, Locks, Window Shade, and of course my Media haven using an MSC400)/ I say this only to show that I have gone beyond just setting up my remote to control my TV and stuff, but for the last few months I have pulled on my beard for countless hours trying to understand, how to make the transition to an IP based setup.

This is my current list of Items I want to control

TV: LG 65UK7700
AVR: Denon AVR1912
Media: NVIDIA Shield
Media Player: Oppo bluray
PS3 via ir dongle

Everything on the list is connected to the internet. I currently have everything working just fine via IR, but at every attempt I make to get things working via IP I run into issues. Last night I had a mental breakthrough and managed to setup POPUP two way volume and mute. This works and is great, I can see from my remote what the volume status of the receiver is, but I can not turn the volume up or down without the remote being pointed in the direction of the Receiver. I believe this is because in the RF Control window, I can not set the Signal to RF or Network without having a base station; which is the popup I receive every time I try to set it.
My receiver model is only supported in IR or Two way module, some of the models that came after have IP and IR corresponding data and the IR part works for it, but even after having mapped IP commands to certain buttons I get nothing. I am not even able to test to see an IP command will work.
I have been stuck on this for a while, I have tried every avenue that I can think of, but nothing has worked. I am willing to share screen, call or maybe even BEAM myself to your location, just so I can get some understanding of what is going on and Why am I having such a hard time . Guys I am not looking for someone to setup my stuff for me , I am just looking for a few minutes of someones time to see what I am dealing with and to help me solve and understand.

Thanks

What I do is set up a device like the Oppo as a IP device. You could also set it up as a IR device, but they should appear as 2 different devices. If you're trying to combine them into one it won't work (at least I don't think it'll work that way).

I set the MX5000 up in CCP the following way:
Create devices (most are IP). Define buttons with the proper command, ie. power on.
Create display screens that are what the user sees.
Link the device buttons to the user screen buttons. They can be single function IE chan up, or a macro.

IIRC, setting up an IP device you need to define its IP at the device properties. It's been a few months since I've been in CCP. If the defining of the device IP isn't your problem I can get into CCP and give a better description.

Man, I am willing to pay someone for their time, not to program for me but to show me what I am not getting with this IP thing. I just am not making the connection from IR setup to IP and its very frustrating.

I'll assume you're up to date on networking. If not post back and I'll try a mini intro.

As you probably know, there are several ways to create devices, what follows is just one.

With your MX-5000 file loaded in CCP select it in in the Model Designer box. Then click on the + icon just below where it says Model Designer. This adds a device at the bottom of the list in the Model Designer box.
Select the new device. In the properties tab on the Properties/Tools Box you can change its name (IE Denon). Below that you'll see the IP Command Setup. There is where you need to enter the Denon's IP address and the port it listens for command on. The IP address you use should be a static address or a DHCP address that is reserved that you entered into the Denon setup screen. The port is the port Denon uses for communication (I think Denon is port 23).

In the Model Designer box right click on the Denon and select add new page. Open the newly added page, right click in the simulator and add a button. With the button selected go to the Properties/Tools Box. One of the tabs at the bottom of that box is named IP Database. Select it and select AUDIO for the IP Data From, Denon for the Brand, and AVR-1913 (Main) for the Model. Command sets don't change much so that should work for the 1912. You can then drag one of the commands over to the button you created.

In the Macro box you will see the IP command.  If you want to see more detail or edit it double click on it in the Macro Box.  FYI - Test doesn't seem to work for IP commands.

For some devices URC doesn't have commands set up for IP control.  EG - Oppo.  In cases like that I use any IP Command from any device and then edit it to perform the proper function per the manufacturer's info sheets.    Some manufacturers make this readily available (Oppo) and some (Sony) make getting this info an exercise in frustration.  The files on this site can be a big help.    Commands can be quite simple ie PWON or complex ie {"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"Input.ExecuteAction","params":{"action":"nextsubtitle"},"id":1}.  I've even done a WOL command before.
