You can send it across the pond and possibly have a favorable outcome, or you can keep posting here until we all feel better about it… 😀

Hey, take out the battery, and read the first set of digits in the serial number. Post it here.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

On the battery it says "Model: BTNL1333PO".
In the battery compartment it says: "ID120417 0014032"

If the first digits in the battery compartment is the European way of giving dates it means 12 April 2017? In that case it was very newly produced when I bought it (probably May, received it in June), and if there is a one year warranty I should be fine, even if I didn't buy it through an authorized distributor?

Why don't you check with URC and see what they say? Can't hurt!

Produced in April, I'd call URC, be nice, see what they say.

In the meantime, why not pick up an MX-890 or X-8 as a backup ?

You should start your own thread on this for better response.

Try this. I am not sure if the 990 has the same bootloader as a 890, or the same process, but its worth trying. This is the process on the 890 so hopefully the same:

To enter Bootloader mode, remove battery. With battery removed, press and hold Power On and Mute (keep holding both down). Reinsert battery and depress buttons. You will get a message that the files are not found and to connect to a PC and download. Before doing this, remove battery and reinsert. It should find your files.

Just saw this! Charging the remote again now, was just about to send it to the US, Would be fantastic if this works :-) To be continued...

THAT WORKED! :-) YOU ARE MY HERO! THANK YOU!!

It didn't work exactly as you described, I didn't get a message regarding missing files or connecting to a PC, it seemed that it worked as a factory default reset, but that was exactly what I wanted. I updated the software and downloaded the latest config, and everything now seems to be OK. Fantastic news, I was planning to go to the post office tomorrow to send it back to URC in a hope that they would bother to look at it for me.

I didn't see this 'trick' anywhere, is it in the documentation for the MX-990?
If not I think it should be posted as a sticky or something? Very useful! THANKS AGAIN!

Well just updated my RCC again, with the same result as described above. I thought last time was a one off, but it seems to be the standard? Whenever there is a software update the remote crashes. What a piece of sh*t!?

I will try to revive it like goldenrulez described above, and which worked like a charm. But it really shouldn't be necessary to go through that every time?

Very disappointed with this overpriced junk. Think it is time to go back to my old MX-3000s. Not as handy, but at least dependable...

I'm glad the bootloader worked for you. You may have a lemon if the issue keeps popping up. It is not normal.

Yes the bootloader worked and saved me yet again! :-)

But still very unhappy with the product. Don't know if it is poor design or poor quality control that is the problem, but not impressed...

It’s not a bad product just because yours has an issue. Yours just has an issue. Since it is less than a year old, you should still take up the issue with URC while you have a chance. You can keep fixing it every time you want to do a download, or you can see if warranty service is available to you.
