I have a system with a MRF 250 and a sony changer and for some reason I cant get the emitter to work when it's right over the eye. Now I hung it in front of the eye and it works great for now, but I need a permanent fix. Please understand the customer will not buy a new MRF so the 300 is out of the question. any ideas? I was thinking a clear tape or a thin paper over the eye. Now could I learn the codes again learning them through thin paper buffering the codes?

The MRF emitters tend to run hot. They can easily oversaturate the IR sensor. Rather than placing the emitter right over the sensor, move it an inch or two to he side. You should hold the emitter in your hand, almost against the face of the component, but move it a bit at a time until the component responds consistently. Once it is responding as it should, stick the emitter to that spot. That should do it.

Hold the emitter up to the face of the component, as though you were going to place it, but rather than sticking it to the face, hold it just off of the component.

Another thing you can try is putting a piece of electrical tape over the IR sensor and making a pin hole in it. Then, place the emitter on it.

Ultimately, the idea is to reduce the amount of IR getting to the sensor.
