If you’re an end-user looking to buy a URC remote control so that you can program it yourself, please note the following important information: - URC’s computer programmable remote controls DO NOT include programming software in the box.
- URC dealers ARE allowed to provide consumers/end users with the programming software for Complete Control products, but not for Total Control products.
- Dealers are NOT obligated to provide you with this software, and may require you to pay for professional programming. So check on a dealer's individual policy before you buy.
- URC will NOT provide you with the software for a remote you just bought online, and additionally, will not support the hardware warranty on products purchased from non-authorized dealers.
- If you buy from an authorized dealer and they do give you the software, URC still does not offer programming support to consumers/end users. If you require after-sales assistance, you will need to contact your original dealer, or post in the forums here on Remote Central.
- As a final note, if you’ve recently purchased a URC remote and find yourself without software, please do not ask someone on this site to give it to you. This is against URC’s policies. If your dealer will not give you the software and did not inform you at the time of purchase that professional programming was required, then they should not have sold you the remote in the first place. Return it and buy from someone else.
Similarly, if you have URC software do not publically offer to give it to others, as this is also against URC's policies and will result in the removal of your post and/or RC account.

Not trying to bicker.......
#4 is not entirely true. I obtained an mx 3000 via an online classified. I sent an e-mail to URC requesting the MX Editor software. They sent me an EULA which i signed and faxed back. They in turn sent me the updatable version of the MX Editor.
Maybe I caught a break...I don't know.
Completely an FYI reply. My advice....Give them a call...let them tell you no.

Glad I keep an archive of all the stand alone versions from URC. You never know when those will come in handy.

Can you clarify what you mean by not offering stand alone software? Do you mean it is now web based and requires an account to use?

Stand-alone software was separate software packages for each remote. Now, teu use one program for all remotes. It is not web based.

the title of this sticky should be changed to: Do not ask for software on this forum.
we are back to people bitching about the URC policy again, and it seems they aren't reading the sticky...

Well, I do not want the CCP software. However I would love to have the MX-880 Editor software that I had when I bought my URC 8+ years ago. The dealer is not in business anymore so that is not an option. I realize that you all want to protect your CCP software and I'm not asking for help with that. The Editor software was a end user type program. It has been several years since I purchased the remote and would love to continue to use my remote

It's too bad you didn't keep a copy or make a backup. If you search hard enough, there are sites you can probably find either the editor or a copy of CCP.
