I am looking for someone who can modify an existing MX880 program. I need to remove two old Tivo devices that are currently programmed in and add a new Premiere4 Tivo device. Of course I am willing to pay for the help. Thanks.

Are you able to send the file or looking for someone local? If local, it would help to list your location.

Is it for one remote or multiple remotes? Are there multiple TiVo boxes? Is it being controlled IR or RF? And is the remote programmed for favorite channels? If so do you need them modified? If not do you want to add them?

And most importantly are you an end user or a dealer? If you are an end user do you have a copy of the software and the remote file?

I am located in southwest Washington and distance is not an issue. I anticipate that I would send the .ccp file to be edited via email unless there is a problem with this. I have not sent program files of this type attached to email before and don't know if there is any possibility of corruption.

Details: I have two MX880 remotes. One on its last legs and one that is brand new (backup). The program I am currently using successfully is one that I programmed myself using the old program that was in the old remote. I managed to convert that program to the new .ccp format and the program currently works well in both remotes.

The complete control software I am currently using was provided by the dealer where I purchased the new remote. In studying the .ccp software, I found it was over my head as far as programming and much more complex than the earlier software.

I have a Tivo S3 with a hard disk that is about to go belly-up and intend to buy a new Tivo Premiere4, so I'm looking for someone that can incorporate this device into my existing program, substituting a Premiere4 Tivo device for my current S3 Tivo device, and removing an older one-tuner Tivo device which I no longer use. All programming is in IR and I do not have any favorites and am not interested in any. In summary, editing would consist of removal of two Tivo devices and the substituting of the Premiere4 Tivo code into places where the code for the Tivo S3 device is currently located.

I don't know. I bought the S3 about 7 or 8 years ago when they first came out. The Tivo Primiere4 was just released by the company in mid-August, 2012. In the code set data base there is a long list of code sets for Tivos. This suggests they may change code sets fairly often. I have not purchased the DVR yet and was planning on getting my remote set up and ready for install before I purchase one. You have a good idea though. I'll contact Tivo and see if they can tell me if an S3 and Primiere4 operate on the same code sets.

Joe,

I did get your email, sorry I did not get a chance to reply. I just figured I would respond here. I was going to suggest that it is possible the codes are the same as well. I do not have the equipment here to test if the codesets are in fact different on the different models. Checking the codesets in the IRDB, there are a handful of different codesets, and being the the model numbers are not listed, there is no way to know for sure. Reaching out to them may be best. If you still need help, feel free to email me again with your file and we can go from there.

I checked with Tivo and the only response I could get from them was that Tivo does not support universal remotes and recomments using two remotes. I look on the web site of a major seller of Tivos and discovered that all peanut-shaped Tivo remotes are compatible. Actually that is only partly true. Premiere4 and PremiereXL4 have 4 additional buttons (red, green, yellow, and blue) and no Tivo 1-Tivo2 switch on them. So one needs to be careful which which Tivo remote you try to use on the Tivo Premiere models.

Since you had two tivos at one time, I guessing each was set to different alternate Tivo address, and not still on address zero. Your new tivo will be on address zero out of the box, and so both tivo devices currently programmed on the mx-880 will control the new tivo. Yes the color keys won't be there.
