I'm trying to add a volume overlay display to the MX-5000 from a DENON AVR-2313CI receiver over IP. In the past I've done this for the AVR-5308CI to an MX-6000 without any problems.  The control to the AVR-2313CI is IR, with the IP address enabled for the feedback.

I'm missing something with the AVR-2313CI. I have the correct IP address (it's static) and I've input the port number I got from the AVR-2313CI network setup screen. So far I don't see display. I went into CCP, single clicked on the AVR-2313CI model in the tree and then selected the two-way configuration.

I know the IP protocols are available with all new DENON AVRs, but I'm wondering if they support the protocols needed for the MX-5000?

I've search the forums (and googled) under "volume overlay" and still haven't found any clues. I could have sworn that there was a two-way help file for DENON but all I see is a two-way Onkyo file instead.

Thanks for any suggestions.

With a little more digging and remembering what I did last time, I'm able to answer my own question, for someone else who runs into this problem.

First, the guide to how to do this is in, "CCP Advanced Programming (MRX-1, IP, RS232 and Two Way)" pdf file.

What I was missing was that I also needed to put a feedback step in the macro list for the volume up/down and mute buttons.

Finally, the new DENONs continue to use port 23 for volume and mute.

Once those items were added/corrected, the Two-Way Volume Pop-Up on the MX-5000 worked as advertised.

I meant to post this earlier but the URC database has a lot of invalid entries for the AVR-2313CI (and other 13 models). It looks like someone just copied the 2012 model commands forward and some of the input select buttons have changed. There is also an "Option" button that will need to be learned.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for updating us with your finding. I may be adding a new Denon to my home and wanted to ask, does the MX-5000 really work with the MRX-1? What about the MRX-10? Here I thought my house with two MX-5000s and two MX-850s was limited in expansion to the new base stations as I currently use the MSC-400 and a MRF-350.

Thanks again.
