I have searched on here for a bit and found some information on these dimmers being controlled with the MX450. I have the dimmers operational and both RF ID set to 1 and 2, but both dimmer switches continue to operate as a single unit, not two seperate units. Is this possible to control 2 URC dimmers individually with the MX450 remote? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Assuming you added 2 different lighting devices to the remote and not 1?

Yes, I have 2 MRFA 600 dimmers in a 2 box gang. I have also created the "Main Lights" and "Sconces" buttons on my remote. But, when you go into either button control, both switches activate and all the light come on. So there isn't a seperation of either dimmer. They are both acting as single dimmer unit. I set the main lights to RF ID #1 and Sconces RF ID #2.

You do not set RF ID's for individual lighting devices. They use a unique address that you "program" in the dimmer by holing down the main button on the dimmer for I believe 8 seconds while pressing ON within the lighting device on the remote. If you do this separately for each dimmer, you should be good to go. You have to make sure each lighting device on the remote is set to its unique lighting address (not to be mistaken with RF ID).

You should set up a phantom base station on the remote set to RF ID "0" and assign the lighting devices to this phantom base station. Hope this helps.

To further add to what I said, it sounds here like you most likely have both lighting devices set to the same lighting address. It's the only explanation for both dimmers responding to the codes in either device on the remote. I am not sure if you can change the lighting address on the 450 or not. Worst case, you would have to delete and reprogram just one of the devices on the remote, making sure to add it in with a different lighting address.

I appreciate the feedback. I have had a chance to tinker with this some more and it looks like I can't directly change the lighting address directly on the MX-450. The only option the MX gives is the RF ID number. I could be missing something, but I have gone through each of the program screens on the MX.

It's been a while since I did URC lighting......
I remember needing to set an individual ID for each device/dimmer.
I then set another ID for for ALL the dimmers.
This gives you individual adjustment as well as All On All Off capability without busy macros.

Ok, I grabbed a MX450 and added a lighting device to see what the process is on this remote. You are not at fault for having this issue. I too do not see anywhere to enter the separate lighting device ID. You can choose a different codeset, but not lighting device address. It may be possible to only add one lighting address on this remote.

Maybe you have to learn the codes from another ccp remote?  Ive never done lighting with a 450, but that would be my guess.

You may be right. I PM'd Dale to see if he can confirm the limitations of the MX-450's lighting control

This is correct.

From page 9 of the URC Lighting Control Setup:

When you want a Standalone programmed remote (such as the MX-350, MX-450 or MX-650) to operate lighting with a particular address, use a compatible remote (MX-6000, MX-3000 Black, MX-980, MX-900, KP-900 or MX-880) and its PC Editor to create a lighting device with the desired Lighting Address. Be sure to set the RF settings for this device to IR, then download to the remote. Teach the commands to the standalone remote, then set the signal on the standalone remote to RF for actual operation.

Thank for clearing it up. Never noticed that in the lighting "manual" before. That definitely limits the diy'er quite a bit as most people that would purchase the MX-450 won't have another PC programmable remote to do this. OP, if you want to PM me, I can help you achieve this if you send me the file for your MX-450 (you have to download the archive software first)

It was my understanding that the MX450 came with 8 lighting addresses already built in so you wouldn't have to teach them from a CCP remote. URC wants to sell their lighting.
