I have not yet received my first MX890, but with it expected in tomorrow, I started to program it to my system, as this first one is a test unit. In CCP, I created my devices, page 1 had 6 devices/activities, and page two had 4 devices, that will become a hidden page (receiver, TV...)

Everything goes fine, until I go to add the page layouts. All the devices on page 1 show fine, none of the devices on page 2 show. I thought perhaps I didn't save the page so I went back and saved, still they do not show. Never had this issue with a 980. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? Also, not if the text will display on the screen, as I still haven't gotten my remote, but I do not see an option to hide text such as you have to do on the MX780. Will have a better idea on that one tomorrow. Really have to figure out the first issue I listed though.

Ok, I just re-added the icons for the devices on page 2, and instead of clicking Save at the bottom of the page, I click Next Page, and a save window pops up. Click save and they now show in Layouts and the Data tabs.

OK, another weird one. On all remotes, I will remove the power commands from the ON and OFF buttons, even though the punch through should override those commands. I have had one system that gave me issues years ago so it just became habit. So on this remote, I deleted the command, and I can no longer place any command, macro, or punch through on the power buttons. It appears the command was a place holder and once removed, the buttons are no longer accessible. I have not yet found out how to add the buttons back to where I can place commands on them. Any one have any ideas?

edit:
I went back into the Layouts tab and reselected the pages I want and simply added the pages again, without overwriting. As soon as I did that, the punch through icon showed on the power buttons.

In the end I settled them but figured no reason to delete the info or thread as others may have those small issues. I do have to upload the file still later today and test everything and see if the text is hidden on the buttons.

Maybe you should edit the name of this thread to "MX890 Progrmmer Issues" since there's nothing to fault URC here.

Wow. I kept the thread in case others tried to program and came across these small issues. There is no programmer issue, only slight differences in the programming structure from other remotes. Amazing how you have bashed URC on policies over and over and over to no end, yet feel the need to chime in to defend them now and make a personal dig on me.

Wonder if this is a similar thing to what I'm getting on my MX-780. Created and uploaded some images to use on the Main Activities page. Inserted the images using the Create & Name Devices section.

But whenever I exit and reload CCP there are 3 images that never show up on the Simulator layout, and I have to go back into the Create & Name Devices section, resave and exit.

Well I just received the remote and uploaded the file. The text does indeed overlay the image on the buttons. There is no option to hide text when right clicking the button, and going into the button properties and removing the text results in the name being removed the tree. Still not sure where to set the text so that it is hidden.

Edit:
I figured out that you have to go into the buttons properties and you can uncheck the "display text" box to remove the text from the button, but not in the tree. I must have looked in there a dozen times, but I somehow kept overlooking that check box. All settled now.

I just took several pictures of different angles, and along with an MX450 and an MX780 to compare.

Side

Side with MX780

Side with MX450

Face Down

Face Down (780 on bottom, 890 in middle, 450 on top)

Face Down (780 on bottom, 890 in middle, 450 on top)

Screens (450 on left, 890 in middle, 780 on right)

Sorry for crappy pics. I didn't really have great light. I just noticed in the pictures that my hands must be a little greasy from helping with some of the holiday cooking.

Cool thanks for that. Considerable difference between the 780 and 890 as far as screen res go. I really wish they would have stuck with the 450's Green ON and Red OFF nomenclature if they felt they needed to be there at all...
Now get back to baking those cookies!

Yeah, it seems to be a lot higher resolution than the 880 as well, but I don't have one here to compare.

Even after cleaning my hands, the remote does still pick up a good amount of grease or oils in my hands. It does ship with a micro fiber cloth though, so I am guessing they are aware that is will get dirty pretty fast.
