Hello everyone,

I just received and setup my MX450 and MRF260. Setup was a breeze for the most part and everything works great, except one thing.

I taught the remote the skip ahead and skip back functions from my original motorola remote, to the hard buttons +skip and -skip on the 450. The motorola box is programed as a cable box in the 450, but the box includes both cable box and DVR functions. There is no option for a motorola DVR.

The learned functions work fine from the remote but the 260 doesn't re-transmit them. The 260 does re-transmit all other signals though. Is there something I need to do to enable these learned signals to work with the 260?

Thanks!!

Oh, and I did search, but being new to the forum I may be unfamiliar with common terms. If this has been covered, please just point me in the right direction.

The IR/RF options are set by device in URC's world. You were able to route the cable box to RF because it was already in the library but to which device "group" did you learn the DVR commands to?

One of the things you could do is create another device with is the DVR and learn all of the codes into that one and route it to RF. You can set it's IR port the same as the Cable Box. Then punch through your channel buttons from the cable box device.

Thanks!

I went to try your suggestion, and realized my observation of the problem was incorrect. The 260 is re-transmitting the signal, but the signal from the 260 isn't triggering the cable box to do anything. The IR signal directly from the 450 does though. So, now I really don't know what to do.

I tried re-teaching the 450 the commands using some of the techniques in the how-to, to now avail. Right now I'm having trouble with the idea that the 260 is changing the signal somehow instead of just repeating it exactly.  What could cause this.

All devices are being fed signal at all times, I don't have the 260 setup to discriminate which signals go where.

The 2 problems that come to mind are:

1) The IR emitter isn't in the right spot on the cable box

2) The gain needs to be adjusted for the IR emitter after you locate the correct place to stick it on the cable box.

I would think the placement and sensitivity are fine being that other codes are working for cable, but its worth adjusting the gain as suggested just in case. Is the emitter flashing when you press the skip+ and skip- buttons?

Mmmm, I'd still suggest playing around with gain and fine-tuning. Certain codes might be more prone to overloading than others.

Also, as odd as it sounds, I *have* experienced issues with certain codes going through RF. For example, I have an MCE system that works very poorly through URC RF - if you tap the button, the MCE senses like 2 or 3 button pushes. It's fine via direct IR, and isn't an issue with the exact same codes on another MCE system I have.

The only solution was to disable repeats and select a very specific number of iterations. Now it's actually possible to navigate, but it's still awkward as holding down a key is no longer possible.

what if you created a press and hold macro?  less than 1 second = no repeats,  after 1 second = repeats.  that is what you have to do with an MSC400 and RS232 anyway, might work in this case too.

You know, I never tried it so I have to ask. Can you create press and holds on a 450?

Oh, sorry. I thought the response was to the OP for some reason.

Great. Glad it was an easy fix.
