I know this has been discussed before but I can't find the thread. I have just downloaded CCP to my new computer which is running windows 7 on a 32bit system and every time I open CCP , a window opens to ask if want to install "the window mobile device center 6.1". When I click on yes, CCP opens in the normal way but none of the remotes that I have tried are recognized. Any ideas anyone?

IMO, CCP should be run from within a virtualized 32bit Windows XP installation using VMWare or other virtualization platform. The amount of time/space required to set this up is far outweighed by the time saved in jumping through hoops to keep CCP running and behaving on a current OS, including a 64bit Windows 7 system.

I specifically bought this computer with a 32 bit system, hoping that I could use it with CCP without any undue problems or complications, seems I was wrong. Maybe someone has a simple solution.

Post 34 may help: [Link: remotecentral.com]You may also be able to run in XP compatibility mode since you have 32 bit. Others have reported zero issue with CCP and win7 32 bit.

you need to download Windows Mobile Device center and install it. it is used for making USB connections to the remotes. [Link: support.microsoft.com]

Thanks for the link, but it seems that the mobile device center will not download onto my win 7 32-bit computer. I must be missing something. I will keep looking. Again thank you all.

So you have the driver installed that DT linked to? Have you tried running in XP compatibility mode? Right click the CCP icon...choose Properties...choose Compatibility tab...click check box for Run this program and drop down XP SP2...click Apply then OK. What happens then?

when I run in compatibility mode it asks me if I want to download active sync. As I understand it, I should not run active sync with win 7. Does this matter in compat. mode?

Let me know once you've given up and instead run CCP inside VMWare. :) No headaches. This way it will also be proofed against any and all OS updates you make to your host machine.

+1 I am also using my windows 7 64bit machine with CCP and no problems. I am able to download to the MSC-400 too. The problem is not the software.
