My MX950 is and has been working fine for quite some time and I have been perfectly comfortable programming it and changing programs as my devices change.

If I needed to replace/upgrade it tomorrow, would the logical replacement be a 980 ? How different is the 980 programing software (CC I assume) from what I am currently using ?
I understand that I would need to ensure that I could get the software when I purchased the 980; is this as big a PITA as some threads would suggest ?

And finally, is there a version of the new software that works with a 950 ? I have not upgraded the 950 software in quite a while.

Thanks !

I think if you are sticking with URC and you want to upgrade from the 980 the MX-5000 would be a good option. If you want to go tablet, then go flagship with the MX-6000. Those are really the only two that are on top of the food chain, and above the 980.

If your looking for another type of remote RTI is pretty good, but not a DIY line.

The answer that Vbova missed is, yes, the 980 is the next logical step up from the 950. It programs pretty much the same, just adding color and more memory.

You can do a live update in your software to get the last version.

Getting the software for the 980 just depends on who you get the remote from.
"You can't fix stupid."
