I have played with them and like them, but at a goodly price, who is buying them? Are you finding people are crazy about them or do they choose the "lower priced spread", like MX880/980?

For the most part, they choose the "lower priced spread" as you put it. The question for most customers is whether the added WiFi capability (particularly when comparing the MX-5000 to the MX-980), is worth double the price. I love the MX-5000, but it's a tough sell against the MX-980. The MX-6000 is actually an easier sell, as it's compared to the MX-3000 and the 6000 is a superior remote, not even counting the WiFi.

That being said, most people really like both remotes once you get one into their hands.

Haven't tried to push either one. Since URC pulled their PUP program I haven't been able to afford one for my personal use/ programming practice. I prefer to have time with the 5000/6000 for myself and find all of the tweaks before I feel comfortable trying to program one for a paying customer.

We still have our PUP program, but you do need to attend a live training to take part in it.

Best regards,
Dale

Sorry to intrude in the Pro section but my two cents:

- contacted 3 resellers listed on URC website to inquire about the MX-5000.

* #1 does not sell it
* #2 charges more than what seems to be the average price + $150/hour to program but could not give me info on it (regarding integration with my set-up) and once I mentioned I could be interested in something else (as in cheaper) if he thought it was better for me, he absolutely told me that MX-5000 was what I needed... kinda felt that all he wanted was my money first before giving me an advice on what I really need.
* #3 never heard of it but told me he would give me a good price and $95/hour program but does not know much about it and does not know if I the MX-5000 is going to work with my set-up/plan (obviously it will work but I was hoping info on functions like control for HTPC and Tivo via IP).

Just wanted to let you know that there ARE people interested in the MX-5000 but that it is extremely hard for me to find info about it, few installer seem to know it and others don't seem to be happy that I only want a remote (as expensive as this one is) and try to push receiver, plasma or more install.
I would love to find an installer that is willing to sell one to me, or even help me figure out what is best for my setup.

So if any of you is in or around NY I'd be happy to get in touch and finally figure out what is the best remote for my set-up...

Surf Remote and Control Remotes on this site may be able to help.

Yes, my apologies Darnitol! The PUP form has only been scratched for the webinars!

You have to admit, though...with the amount of potential that remote has, guys like me would stay up for three days tweaking it for my house (off the clock) so when I show a potential buyer they can see EVERYTHING it does! For the price, it's great. Otherwise, we are playing games with the clock and a great controller could sell itself way short.

I would love to have (and keep) one. Hook me up!

That's strange! Even after sitting thru their webinar you can't buy a sample to try out your new found programming skills?

I sell more of the 6000 than the 5000. I think the people who will spend 1100 on the 5000 will cough up a little more for the 5000 because of the real estate of the screen as well as the panel look. I think the 6000 is a better piece anyway and you are always better with the flagship when new features come out. The 5000 is attractive to the hand-held market, but the 980 is so much cheaper and a lot of people jump down when looking for a handheld.

Here are my top sellers in order:

1) MX-980
2) MX-6000
3) MX-3000
4) MX-880
5) MX-5000
6) MX-900
7) KP-900
8) ALL ELSE

Of course the MSC-400 and MRF units are in there as well, but I discounted them.

AA-HAA! Discounting will cost you your dealership!
