The only people I would really caution against getting the 980 would be porn addicts. Constantly hitting the fast forward button can really take a toll on the battery life. :)

Well then definitely forget the 980!!! :)

I've had an MX-980 for about 3 months now and I haven't found the battery life to be a problem at all. I was a bit concerned before getting it after reading some of the posts here but figured worst case I can pick up a spare battery and charger off of eBay for $20. After using it for a while I haven't bothered with the spare battery. I find the charge lasts 2-3 days so it's no big deal if I forget to put it in the base at the end of the night. Also, I find that it will charge up at least 10-20% after only a few minutes so if it's really low then I just put it in the charger after the system is on and I'm watching something. By the time I need it again it's got plenty of charge.

You are the first person to tell me they can get 2-3 days. I keep hearing from people 2 days max and if the remote is handled a lot while watching TV, then 1 day max. I do like the 980 and the additional capabilities/graphics, but battery life would be an annoyance.

I think you can get a spare battery on ebay for about 99 cents.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Can always just leave the 980 in the charger for when you really need to see something on that color touchscreen, and just use a 900 the rest of the time.

The 900 lasts for months with hybrid rechargeable AAA batteries and when it does need to recharge, you can always slap in some other AAA's. The feature that auto-turns off the display is another nice touch to extend the batteries even more.

99.9% of the time I use a remote control, I don't need to look at it to operate it. That is the whole point of a hard button remote.
