I have an MX980 and MRF350. I am trying to control a harmony ps3 adapter with no luck. I have tried the codes in the urc data base and they do not work from the MRF or from the remote directly. I have a harmony remote that i programed to run the ps3 with the adapter and it works fine. I tried learning the codes from the harmony to the mx980 and it doesn't work. I have the ps3 adaptor set to ir and rf. any ideas?

Did you try my CCF file? There are two versions of the codes, one or the other MAY work.

So after 3 hours of messing around with this thing I can get the cursors to work perfectly if the ps3 adapter and the mx980 are in the same room. I cannot get the ps, circle or x buttons to work at all. I can get extremely intermittent functionality of the cursor keys with the MRF. I tried positioning the ps3 adapter all over my room using the front blaster on the MRF i tried using emitters at all different intensity settings and moved the emitter all around the ps3 adapter and cannot get reliable functionality. The codes I used were from the excell file that I downloaded of Daniels codes. I tried to use the ir codes in the ccf file that says it works with urc but i could not see the hex in touch screen setup. anyone have more ideas?

Edit: just wanted to add that i do have a monster avl300 that runs the ps3 perfectly with all functions through the ps3 adapter but i cannot get the mx980 to learn the codes from it. I tried varying the distances between the remotes while learning, tried button presses of different durations the usual tricks but nothing works. The mx980 says learn ok every time but the learned function never does anything.

The Harmony Adapter is extremely, repeat extremely picky on code timing, and uses an unusual code format that does not seem to be reproduced with any consistancy between universal remotes.

For example, a set of codes that work perfectly on a Pronto Classic barely work at all on the Pronto NG. Codes that work on the Pronto NG operate far too quickly on the Pronto Classic. It appears that URC remotes may suffer from the same non-standard code replication between models, as some codes work on some URC models but not others.

Also no one seems to know anything about this format, so I was unable to use any of the standard tools to generate clean codes at different speeds, and had to live with simple learning (even John Fine was a bit mystified as to why one set would work and another wouldn't, since the differences were insignificant).

The Excel file features the exact same codes as in the Pronto NG CCF file, so I would try out the CCF for the original Pronto which features a "slower" set. You should be able to import them using the Universal Browser.

However it's possible that some URC remotes may require an even "faster" set.

Thank you for the info Daniel. It is beginning to look like time to file this under lost causes and try a different adapter.

So, here is a really bizarre one. I got the circle and x buttons to work if the 980 and ps3 adapter are in the same room, but only on hard keys. If I use the same codes from the ccf file and drag and drop them exactly the same way as i did from the universal browser into the hard key but instead put them on a soft key they will not work. And still nothing works any more than extremely intermittently with the MRF.

I'm sure the problem with RF is getting the timing to be "exact" when going through multiple devices and conversions. If the timing is on the brink of being unusable before being converted to RF and back, I guess it's over the brink afterwards...

Honestly, you may be better off with ANY other PS3 adapter, as the rest all use standard Sony codes that every remote handles perfectly.

I second the Schmartz PS100. It works very well.

Yes, it does work perfectly with my monster avl300 but I strongly dislike that remote and only have it because it was free. I am going to give up on the Harmony adapter and try something different.

For clarity, the model of the Schmartz is PSIR-1000. There's also a lower end 500 model.
