Wondering if anyone has run into this problem... I have set up small macros to change the channel on my Direct TV HD DVR.... You press the TV Logo and it goes to the channel... Simple enough.... Here is the issue... It worked fine for all my Direct TV receiver, except the HD DVR... It would hesitate, etc... I though it was my program, however, my macro worked fine on every other receiver.... Today, I just switch out one of the receivers that it did work on and replaced it with a new Direct TV HD DVR (HR-23).... Now the same issue is occurring with the new HD DVR... So, this confirms that the problem is with the HD DVRs.. I have tried putting in delays between each number of the channel i have tried putting in a delay at the beginning... Nothing seems to be working... Has anyone had a similar issue... If so, what was the right timing combination to fix it?

Have you tried learning the remote for the new HD DVR and replacing the old commands with the ones you learned?

"hesitate etc"?

Does it ever go to the channel? Can you describe the exact behavior like does one number enter then the others dont or does 1 number act like its being pressed twice?

Also, it might just be because of the trouble you caused up in Heaven.

That last comment might very well be true!! :-)... Interesting, it seems to skip the middle number.... So, for instance, I put in Nick Jr. which is 301 on Direct TV... It seem to go to 31... Although this not consistent... Sometimes it just does 3.... And sometimes it goes to 301... I have tried changing the timing... I did a .5 second delay between each... I did a .1 delay too... I also change the repeat command settings... I did a minimum repeat of 3, 4, 5... I also went the other way... I also tried turning off the repeat while pushing down and holding... Nothing has really helped... It is inconsistent... Now, the other commands on the DVR work fine (i.e. menu, guide, etc..) it seem to just be the numbers...

Favorite channel macros are the acid test for those DVRs.

You didn't mention if you were using a base station, often the emitters are too close and need to be moved ~ 6" away, but regardless the DVRs are very touchy. The cleanest way to test is to enter the guide first, and then press various favorite channel macros. Changing channels rapidly doesn't work very well even with all the kinks worked out, and it's not very realistic either.

Thanks for the response... Yes, I am using a base station... Actually, I am using two separate base stations... The local one in my MBR is the MRF-350 and the one in the basement is the MSC-400... I am having the problem on both base stations... The interesting thing is that the emitters work fine for all other commands (i.e. guide, menu, record, ff, rew, pause, ect...) Not a problem at all... It seems the real problem is in the timing of entering a channel number is succession. (i.e. 3 - 0 - 1... )

Hi. Make sure you have high 85-95 signal strengths and running BOTH tuners. Low signal strengths can definitely bog down the DVR's processor. Also, I have read that having Ethernet connected to it can speed up it's response as well.

Not sure how it behaves it you're using SWM. Have a blessed day.

Go RS232 on the MSC400 for the channel macros... one command and that is it. Unfortunately, that does not help you with MRF 350. If you need a link to the RS232 doc just give us a shout.

Make sure you have IR routing on the Base Station. OF you don't do any routing this can cause the DTV receiver to not only get the command from the Emitter on the DVR, but also receive the signal from another emitter. Also turn off the IR Blaster on the MRF. The DTV receivers are very sensitive when it comes to IR. I just did and HR23 the other day, and my macros had .5 second delay between steps. On any directv receiver I always put the repeats at 1, instead of the 3 default. You also might have to turn down the IR on the mrf base station.
