Hey guys, I am not a dealer so I do not have the latest and greatest software from the URC website, and I guess I do not have choice in the matter, however, is there a way I can get the latest IR code Db?

Is IRDB Version 1.80 the latest? It doesnt even have PS3 codes, codes for a Denon AVR 788 nor for my Direct TV HR-21. Whats up with that?

The latest is 1.89 in the MX-3000 editor.

You can use the codes from the 19XX or 23xx, for the most part Denon codes don't change.

Thanks Guys, I will try out the Denon code for the other system and see how that works. I did go and download the latest software from the urc site and it still gives me the samer older version irdb. Anyother way for me to get the latest IRDB version? Please? Granted it was a gift, but I am about ready to Ebay this RC and get another brand.....

Hopefully Aunt Betty picked up that $999 dollar remote from an authorized dealer. Simply call her and explain to her that this very generous gift she purchased for you believe it or not needs a certain level of support that authorized purchases can give you.

If not why can't you simply learn the codes in? Or, like Bobli said, try the older models. Your talking about two pieces of equipment that have very consistent codesets throughout the lines. For example, the HR21 is exactly the same as the HR20. The 3 digit series are pretty much the same across the board, and th PS3 stuff is plastered all over the web.

To answer your question, the only way to get the latest IRDB is with the latest software update. That is the one and only way. And just so you know, putting it up on Ebay and "getting another brand" is not going to make things easier for you in regard to getting codes. URC seems more dedicated than ever in maintaining the line through authorized chanels. They pay a lot of people good money to plug IR codes all day so hopefully this came from an authorized dealer and you can clear this up.

By the way, you get good gifts - all I get is a tie or a sweater every year...

Thanks for the reply. Actually it was my grandmother who passed and my uncle was the one who got two of these, but did not want either one so gave them both to me. As far as where she purchased these from, not that easy there is a lot of bla bla bla's. I will try the older codes, and if worse comes to worse I will go through the learning process.

True there is so much stuff on the web about programming this, but sometimes you have to wade through so much sludge to get a answer.... To much info is a pain at times...... Thanks again for the info though.

Sorry about your grandmother - didn't mean to generalize. I sent you an email with some options.

A common misconception is that by selecting a specific model of a device in the URC database, you're going to get a codeset that's completely customized to that model, with only the correct available functions and so forth. This isn't what happens - the model number just references the "best match" codeset, which is exactly the same as if you had found that codeset manually in the first place, or selected a "close match".

If you want something completely customized to your device... then the best method is to learn the codes! You'd think code learning was akin to walking on hot coals the way some folks try to avoid it...

I've had a MX3000 for a couple years I got from Magnolia and now I want to be diligent entering all my remotes codes and making macros for my new Samsung 8000 TV. Two problems: the software I download from URC is stuck at version 1.8 and my TV is a 2009 model with buttons that didn't exist on older models. And second the 3000 doesn't want to learn any of the codes from the 8000's remote.

Thats because the 8000's remote is RF.. If you try other Samsung tv codes, it will work.
