Is the 900 showing up in the toolbar on the bottom of the Fusion window? Fusion, by default, hides HID devices (which the 900 is). Try this thread: [Link: remotecentral.com]

The .vmx is located in a package. You have to open the package to find it. If you know the folder the VM image is stored in, open that folder, find the VM, right click and select "Show Package Contents."

If you do not know where the VM is stored, look in {Your User Name} > Library > Application Support > VMware Fusion > Virtual Machines. If it is a Boot Camp partition, then Boot Camp > {partion name} > Boot Camp.

When you find the .vmx, right click and open in TextEdit. Add the following line:

usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"

What about Parallels?

I don't believe that Parallels has this same issue. If you are having trouble connecting USB devices, I believe you can simply click on the USB icon on the bottom of the Parallels window and tell it to connect the device.

Ok well I found the only .vmx file was for my Windowsxphomeedition.vmx and so I added it there (about two thirds of way down list - not sure if WHERE you put it matter?) and restarted everything and it still isn't working. (same errors coming up and don't see remote listed anywhere) Was that the right place? I can't find any other vmx items even in fusion. should I give up? also if you feel like being sainted I can be reached on my cell 310 729 8452 and if I am being retarded you can tell me why I am not solving this after an entire day.

The steps that dsp81 outlines here and the other thread are spot on. He helped me greatly when I first got my MBP with Fusion. I installed VMX Extras and then added the line usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE" to the bootcamp.vmx file. Works perfect.

I'm having a heck of a time with URC MX880. All the others connect fine.

Is the remote showing up in the dock of Parallels? Try opening the Device Manager and then plug in the remote. The remote should show up. If it doesn't, that means Parallel's isn't letting it connect. If it does show up, but not not named, then you need to install the driver. Don't let the computer search for the driver, find it manually. The driver is in Program Files > Universal Remote > MX-880 > Drivers > {Operating System} > x86. If it does show up and is named, try reinstalling the driver (same as above).
