After the batteries are reinstalled and the remote checks all it's features, it skips the light check. I can't get the backlight to work, and the switch seems to be working fine when I took the remote apart. How can I get it to recognize the light code so the backlight will operate?

All URC remotes in that series skip the light check (no idea why). Even those with working backlights.
