I have a new laptop and had to buy a usb/db9 adapter to use for my MX-850. When I upload configuration, I get a message that says "..wrong com port..". I've tried all the ports(8) and the same message comes up.

The adapter I'm using is from EMTC. Should I try the Keyspan?

I appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Jose.

Check to make sure that the converter device is properly detected by windows. You should be able to see which com port it is in device manager.

Make sure a driver is installed.
Check Device Manager for Serial to USB and find out which Com port it is using.
Change it under "Communications" in the MX software.

Viola. You might need to restart the software.

Keyspan USA19HS works with everything I've thrown at it. Crestron, Lutron Homeworks, URC, Elan, Niles, Pentar Pool controls, Prontos. Best $ 40 bucks you will spend.
