Hey All,

I am at my uncle's home setting up his home theater and I have run into a snag! Since URC is closed until Monday and I live 4 hours away, I need to get a quick solution to my problem to have it working by the time I leave tomorrow night.....

I am using a 5 to 1 HDMI Switcher from Monoprice.com to take care of my uncle's HDMI needs for his system, but I am running into all klnds of problems trying to learn the functions from the dedicated remote which came with the switcher and have them run in the MX-980.

I have learned and relearned the codes and have never been more successful than one time getting the MX-980 to send out a code that toggled through the inputs. Does anyone have any experience with teaching the remote IR codes let alone programming this switcher?

Thank you for your help!

I was able to program the Monoprice unit fully on my 980. I think I recall initially having problems getting it to work. It's hard to remember, but I think I just tapped the buttons to finally get it to work. As you probably know, some remotes keep sending out a signal if you hold the button down, and some even change from one code to another (initial vs repeat), etc. Therefore there are 3 ways to try to learn. Press the button short (to try and get only the initial burst), hold the button down (to try and learn a sequence), or hold the button down and then start the learn process (to ignore the initial burst). I think the first method is what you want for the monoprice. I wish I knew how to export a device under the 980 (like you can on the 700) and then I could send you the data :-(

You should be able to enter these using the universal browser's hex function.

I found it! Sorry guys I have never used the universal browser. I am currently cutting and pasting and then dragging the hex codes to the assigned buttons and then renaming them, but havent tried them out yet. Am I doing the right steps?

I am keeping my fingers crossed on this install!!! Thanks so much. Let me know

Stupid but basic question. Does the switcher work every time as you currently have it set up with the factory remote? Could be a handshake issue with the sources and the monitor.
