Every time I try to program a macro, MX980 editor shuts down.

It shuts down every time I click on a button while recording the macro.

Is this operator error, or is there a compatability issue with the MX980 editor and Vista?

I'm at a complete stand still with programming this remote.

...I am running the 32 bit home edition if that matters.

Never mind. I figured it out. The view must be in simulated mode. I had it in page view. In simulated, it apears to be working so far.

I need a manual for this thing..... Reading the 900/950 manuals don't help with this beast very much.

I have another 980 macro question, not related to Vista.....

I’ve read through the MX 3000 and 900/950 manuals and I’m not figuring out how to configure a press and hold macro. I’m sure this is another silly newbie operator thing….

I’m not finding the press / hold button in the 980 Editor macro panel that the MX 3000 manual refers to. The 980 has an IF button, but I’m clueless what this does or how I’m supposed to use it. Is this what I use? If so, how?

What I’m trying to do is use the on button to power on my VP50Pro, projector and receiver while at the watch or listen page, and to use it to power on my source components if I hold it for a second, or two. I'll set up the off button to power down the system in the same order.

Other than that little macro I have failed to program, I think I’ve almost got this thing figured out. It’s quite a jump in set up complexity over my old faithful 850, but I’m certain it will be worth the aggravation and steeper learning curve when I finally get it dialed in. The MRF 350 is a wonderful improvement over the 200 too! I can finally use flashers instead of using the IR blaster!!

Thanks for your patience...... Mike

The Press-Hold feature is sort of hidden in the MX-980 Editor. The first thing you want to do is add an IF/ELSE statement to your macro. Then, double click on IF, and you will be able to configure the Press-Hold times.

Thank you. Is there a cheat sheet for these little 980 tricks or are you finding this stuff as you go along?

There's no cheat sheet, just posts here on RC as things are discovered along the way. Some was discovered via beta testing and some was expalined at training sessions. Much of the macro programming is similar to the MSC-400 and is explained in that manual. Hopefully, there will be a programming manual available in the not-too-distant future.
