I have a MX-900
I have 1 LCD button that when pushed it will go to my TV's Input 3 were my Tivo is connected. Then I'm on my Tivo.

That works great but there are times when I'm recording something and I don't want to see the recorded show.
So I made a second button to not go to the Tivo but just goes to the Tivo menu and then I push the first button to go over to the Tivo.

My Question...
Is there a way to program 1 button to activate the Tivo menu and then go to the TV input (Tivo)?

I have tried learning, copy/pasting the command. Nothing is working

Thanks for any help,
Debbie

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do, but can't you just create a macro on that button with both commands?

Explain to me how you would do this with your regular remotes and I will tell you how to program it.

It can easily be done with a single button press. As Mike pointed out, it's simply a matter of creating the proper macro. As far as I know, there are two commands that you can use to reliably hide what is currently being recorded or buffered. The most obvious one is the "Tivo" button. The other one is a discrete command in the database that takes you straight to the "Now Playing" screen. Just insert either of these commands into your macro before the command that changes the input on your TV, and you should be good to go.

OK, I tried Programming an unused button by turning on the recorder, then click.....
Watch
Page 2
Tivo-2 button (that's where I have the command that goes to the Tivo menu)
Watch
Page 1
Then my Tivo button (that tells the TV to go to that input)

When I save it to the remote and try it, all it does is mutes the TV volume. Weird I know.

I have also tried going to the first button, copy the command to an unused button and then go to the second button and copy that command into the same unused button, saved, tested, nothing.

On a regular remote what I would do is....
Push the 'Tivo' device button, then menu. Then scroll through on the 'Input' button (which I have pushed through from the TV to Tivo) until it gets to the Tivo.

- I assume that when you are recording a program, the Tivo will display what you are recording, like most DVR's... I still follow you!

So I made a second button to not go to the Tivo but just
goes to the Tivo menu and then I push the first button
to go over to the Tivo.

- This is where I am lost a little, I am not sure if you just want the Tivo menu to come up on the TV screen while switching to input 3? If so, its pretty easy.

My Question...
Is there a way to program 1 button to activate the Tivo

- Yes, the macro would be two commands, one being a "menu" command, and the other being an "input" command.

I have tried learning, copy/pasting the command. Nothing
is working

- What are you trying to learn, and what codes are you copying and pasting, since the macro window lets you record your commands from the pages and pages of IR codes.

Thanks for any help,
Debbie

I hope that was of some help,
Joey

This I know but just how to do it
Would it be a 'Learning', 'Macro'.....

What I'm copying is the "Goto Tivo P1" lines from the programming I have on the 1 buttons I created.
I'm at work right now so I can't remember exacly how the line reads

You want to create a macro.

Select the button that you would like to perform the macro, click the record button in the macro window, and just drag the two commands that you want to happen to the macro window.

Test, save, download, win

I tried doing that but the no commands go into the window.

The 2 different commands I want are also on a LCD button and so when I click on that button to drag it over it just goes to the buttons page 1.

I have already tried copying the commands from each button and put them to 1 button and it doesn't work either

This is getting dumb

I import each of the commands from the 2 buttons into 1 button and download to the remote.

Button 1 = Executing Tivo Menu only
Button 2 = Goes to TV input 1 (which goes over to the Tivo)

When I put the button I just programmed all it does is mute the TV.

This is not making since.

OK, reading through the guide the part that is confusing me when programning is:

1) Select the button you'd like to program with two differnt macros - Got it
2) Select Press-Hold Mode from the Type list box at the bottom...... - Got it
3)Click on the Tab at the bottom of the Macro Window labeld BEFORE, then program a jump to the device only

This where I have the problem.....
How do you "program a jump to the device only"?

If I can find this answer I think I could figure it out.

OK, I finialy got it to work

I did it a different way

I programmed a button on page 2 to Tivo device 'menu'
Then programmed a button on page 2 to TV 'input 1'

Then programmed my main Tivo button on page one by using 'record' and used the 'tree' to go to each button with the commands I wanted.

Hope this make since, but it works

Thanks for all your help

Hope this make sense ...

I'm sure I speak for most of us here when I say that it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Fortunately, the only thing that matters is that it makes sense to you. :)

It kind of made sense by the end...
