Is anyone else having rediculous issues with Directv boxes. Especially the silver ones (R15, R10, H20, HR20.... I think.)

They miss a few commands and then duplicate some. For example I wil press 5 and nothing happens, so I start to press 5 faster and faster out of frustration and all of the sudden it receives 5 multiple times.

It seems like the older black boxes work fine and the HR-10250 works fine. Seems to be only in RF mode also.

The processors on these new units are..........so..........slow.......it's........mad.......en.......ing.

The IR receivers are so sensitive We had an mx850/mrf300 combo on a new HR20. we cranked the emitter all the way down, put a single ply of toilet paper (charmin with Aloe....ahhhhhhhh) over the emitter and laid on the shelf under the HR20, and faced it away from the front of the unit so it fire forward bouncing off the interior of the cabinet door back into the IR receiver (who designed a freaking concave emitter window?) window.

You can imagine how long it took to figure that one out.

I stick the emitter just next to the IR receiver...strange but works on half a dozen or so out there. I will agree completely maddening. Search topic for other ideas...this has been an issue discussed before.

Thanks AGAIN, Brian! I wonder if I could fabricate a "gap" that would hold the emmiter 1/2 inch away from the sensor. Would that help?

So is there a method to avoid the madness? Because I'd like to know too. It's strange because sometimes it works and sometimes it's a nightmare.

We have had very good results by placing the emitter either on the shelf approx. 2 to 3 inches in front of the IR sensor or on the the bottom of the shelf above the SAT receiver. Although, the Discrete ON/OFF for the D-10 is what has been working for the H20 these last 3 weeks.

Has anybody here received any news or feedback from the DirecTV Custom install people that were at CEDIA - We filled out all of the paperwork but have not heard a thing.

Unforunately, most of my Directv installs have two boxes (dvr and hd) so placing an emmiter on the shelve would be counter productive. Maybe not anymore with the new HR20.

My HR20 works fine with the emitter placed in the normal location (at the IR receiving eye).

Ya, I've only done one HR20 so I am hoping for good results from them. My worry is with the last 6 months during the change over from the HR-10250 to the HR20 I have had to used two boxes for HD and TiVo and those boxes all had problems and call backs.

Have most people been turning down the IR output on the MRF300? What if using a MRF250?

That project actually had a 250 (older job) before the client got the HR20, we HAD to switch to the 300 just to make the damn thing work. We never sell 250's anymore, never, ever, ever. Tain't worth it.

Elecrical tape over the IR receiver with a pin hole in it (then stick the emitter on top of that) may do the trick also.

Yes, you turn the output on the MRF-300 all the way down with the 10-250. Works great with the new MRF-350 as well.

I usually ask potential customers if they have a 10-250, so I can tell them that they have to get an MRF-300. With a 250, I had to not only use tape, but also move the emitter away from the IR receiving eye as AZ Installer mentioned.

Haven't held a 350 in my hand yet. Are they better, if so how? What's retail on that piece?

Thanks

I asked my rep at P-10, he told me that they are running about 4-6 weeks due to all the apps they took at CEDIA.

Hmmm ..... I wonder? Sounds funny, but I will give anything a shot! I never sell 250's anymore either if I can help it.
