Something really strange has happened to my MX-3000 fonts; some of them seem to have disappeared on the remote itself (not on the editor or the simulator) and are replaced by another font (not the one chose in editor or showing up on the silmulator). On the other hand the remote now accepts RCCs that are a lot larger than those previously accepted (i.e. I took a old one and added a lot of graphics and sound), but they actually show up as smaller!

I am thinking that when I increased the size of the RCC somehow editor or the remote got rid of some fonts to allow the new and larger RCC to download, although this never happened before, I just received a message saying my RCC was too large. The change happened after I did a live update (but apparently not to the latest version, because I was not asked to contact my deaer or register or anything, like it does now).

Does this make sense to anyone, and is there anyting I can do to get (some of) the fonts back?

Actually, this might make a LOT of sense.

Since the MX-3000 runs on a version of Windows CE, the fonts might work the way they used to back in the day when I was a computer administrator at a prepress publishing house.

If you use even one letter of one font, the ENTIRE font, at all sizes, gets downloaded to the printer, and or saved with the document in a PDF, etc.

So, I'm wondering if the same thing is happening when we are using the MX-Editor and use a few different fonts, and then maybe change some of them, leaving even a "space" behind that is in an old font, in which case that entire font might get downloaded to the remote.

And I'm wondering if when even all of a particular font is deleted from your file, if it is actually deleted from Windows CE on the device.

If I'm not making any sense, just ask, since this was a huge problem back in the day when the networks were slower, the printer's memory was far less, etc.

The same thing might be loading up the space in a configuration file and not allowing some .rcc files to download.

In YOUR case, possibly those fonts were in fact deleted, which would delete the entire font family for each font, and you were able to download a larger file, but without all the fonts you want.

I'm going to have to look into this - add a different font for each label in a config file and see if the config file balloons disproportionately.

Don't hold your breath, but I'm quite intrigued as to whether this is something we need to find out about since especially with programs like DMX-3000, we need all the space we can get.

While it is a good assumption it is not correct in this case. The fonts are all stored in a seperate directory on the remote at all times regardless of how many are used in the RCC file itself, and they are not loaded or removed for any reason.

I dont have the latest MX-Editor (after the Control Suite lockdown) installed so it might have changed at that point, but that was not the case up till then.

As for why you are now missing fonts, I couldnt tell you. Under normal circumstances, I would suggest a factory reset, but that doesnt reset the fonts unfortunately.

Believe me, I have tested and tweaked about everything I can find in the remote for the very reason you give there. Creating more space for things such as DMX-3000.

Christopher: I will send you an email this evening with a file and some instructions on how to fix your missing font problem, or can call if you want to email me a time and number that is best to reach you at after 5PM Central.

My font idea is out the window, since the 3000 can only use certain fonts, so I'd be very interested in more information on how to fix this font problem and also how to pare down the remote/rcc file as 3B has mentioned he can do.
