You are right that the original code is messing things up. In the window with Button Name, you have a delete option. When you select it, you have a choice of what you want to delete. You can delete the IR code, but leave the macro.
Before you do this, make sure your macro is not using that code. If it is, copy it to another button and rebuild your macro before you delete it.
