What are you planning to do with such an extender. The wifi capabilities of the 9800i are solely for the purpose of controlling UpNp extenders and receiving media info on your remote. It CANNOT be deployed for controlling devices in other rooms or out of (ir) sight. If you're looking for a remote which is capable of that look for the Nevo SL (http://www.mynevo.com/) with its wifi-ir extender or the new pronto remote of philips TSU9600 ([Link: pronto.philips.com])
