Done right, cable can be tucked under a window ledge, the roof eave, or even burried. There are both black and white cable available, and I've seen from my own experience that either will take house paint reasonably well. In other words, it COULD be run around the house and not look too bad. I think your installer needs a better imagination, though.

In my house I was fortunate to have had cable lines run to each room when the house was built. There is an open area in my attic that all these exsiting cables pass though before exiting the house. Howver, my bedroom where I wanted my second receiver could not be accessed "directly" thru the attic, as it has a vaulted ceiling.

To get the RG6 DSS cable into my bedroom, I used a mulitmeter to determine which of the cable lines in the attic was the one coming from my bedroom (shorted the bedroom jack with a paper clip, then checked all attic cable ends until I found continuity on one). In my case, by cutting off the cable end in the bedroom, and taping on some RG6 cable, I was able to PULL the RG6 through the wall into the attic as I pulled the RG59 out. You can use a set of diplexors to combine Cable or OTA signals with the SAT signal if you still want that programming in your bedroom.

Others have suggested simply using the existing RG59 cable, if you can find both ends of it. It's not recommended, but has worked for many.

It may not be easy, but I'll bet there's a nice solution for your situation. Keep looking, and good luck.

Dave
