Having 2 40w bulbs will not cause any problem. On some X-10 switches there is a slider switch on the bottom of the switch. This switch, if in the off position, will cause the switch to not work. Try the slider switch in both directions. If yours doesn’t have a switch or it still doesn’t work, you more than likely have a bad switch. Are you sure it is installed correctly?
