I've noticed the same thing. A couple weeks ago
I was at CompUsa and they were selling 25 packs
of DVDs for $3.99 (after rebate, of course) and
a 50 pack of CDs was $8.99.
You may of got exactly what you paid for. CompUSA brand blanks are made by either Princo or Optodisc. Princo is well known in the burning world as one of the worst blanks you can buy. Ditto for Optodisc +R. Optodisc -R is a little better. You can check the identity of what you purchased with this free program:
http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/For the best blanks Taiyo Yuden is the one to get. They can be had for about 33 cents each. White hub printable is about the same.
I have never made a coaster with TY's.
Sidenote- I have no problem paying 33 cents for a single layer blank. But I do have a problem paying $3.50 for a dual layer blank. Ouch!
