The DMCA is a load of bull concerning DVDs and CSS. Pirates don't give a damn about the DMCA, the only people it hurts are law-abiding citizens who can't even legally make back-up copies of DVDs that they own. That's wrong and unconstitutional. As far for making 1:1 copies of DVDs, DVDShrink is a good tool. Since dual-layer media is so expensive dual-layer discs either have to be compressed or split. DVDShrink is great for compression, while I use DVDFab Platinum ($40) for 1-click splitting. That's only 3 steps right there:
1. Rip 2. Split/Compress 3. Burn

I don't think you need any other programs other than a ripping program. For that go to videopost under their tools section.
