You have completely the wrong idea of how learning remotes work. You use learning when there isn't a compatible setup code in the remote. You don't need to find a working setup code first.

The JP1 compatible one sounds interesting. Is
there a place that has more information on it.
Does the cable come with it or do I need to do
some modifying? I did some searching but did not
come up with much...:( A link would help out.

There's a link in my signature. Which search engine did you use? I just tried a search using Google and got lots of hits.

The JP1 process is user driven, it's not supported by the remote company, so you won't get a cable with a remote if you buy it at a store, but if you buy the remote from me I can sell you a cable at the same time.
