When you look at the back side of the TSU, with the dock connector at the bottom, the inverter sits a little above the speaker.
Remove all the screws, then just pry open the back cover.
After removing the back cover, you should have a clear view of the inverter.
IIRC there's an imprint with a lightning symbol and "1000V" (or sth. along those lines) marking it.
With a decent amount of caution, you shouldn't come close to touching this thing.
The batteries are located left and right with a connector right next to them.
