The author of a code library for sending, receiving, and decoding IR signals uses an Arduino compatible microprocessor platform.
[Link: tech.cyborg5.com]From time to time people ask me how to support new protocols that I don't currently use. They sent me what are called UEI codes as examples. I know that it refers to universal remotes with something called a JP1 chip in it. With the proper FTDI/USB cable you could re-program these with codes from a variety of sources. Personally I've never had a need for one of these but I like to be able to support my users.
As I've gotten into researching it I see there is now JP1 .2 JP1 .3 and God knows how many other varieties. Most of the information is really really old. It talks a lot about RadioShack remotes.
Could someone point me to a current inexpensive remote that can be programmed with one of these tables and pointed to a source for a cable. I don't want to waste my time and money by the wrong thing.
What should I buy? Be specific. Provide a link if you can.
