The main concerns of the folks* in town was declining property values due to HUGE solar panel farms in the area, since they're not very popular. The guy who was afraid the panels would suck up all the energy from the sun started off saying these panels would make the place less attractive, and like I-95 that bypasses the town, would contribute to the general running down of the town. His wife is the retired schoolteacher with the ridiculous unbelievable and incorrect fears about cancer. She also said these panels would stop photosynthesis.
It is so sad that there is such ignorance in the world. These people have real fears because their town is falling apart, or more accurately being passed by, but when they jump out the window with actually stupid claims, it's hard to be on their side.
