Sadly it is probably still based on some of the realities they have to deal with at a Pawn shop in that area.
There are some messed up people out there that I don't doubt act the way people are portrayed in that show.
When I watch these types of shows or movies. I do have that feeling that "no one acts like that". But as I grow older, and visit places I begin to see that people do act like that.
I read this one article about the super rich people. Some of them are so out of touch, that they themselves think everyone has loads of money. It's because most of them were brought up in that life style. So they had rich family, rich friends, rich co workers and they go to rich restaurants, hotels, and what not.
When I worked at a casino, I saw this. When I was tracking down errors in a person's point earnings. I saw how she would spend over $100k in just under an hour on a slot machine. Do you really think she knows someone who lives on the street? Do you think she even knows or thinks about the poor?
