I have an obscure fiberglass shower unit that was made in China (rainforest 77) which uses an IR remote control to turn the shower lights/radio/etc. on. I'd like to be able to capture the IR and somehow send the code to "Smart IR Remote" app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone.

App:

I don't have any learning-remotes in my house and the Galaxy phone does not have an IR receiver to learn anything. What are my least expensive options to get this set up?

Is the best way still to buy one of those old Phillips Pronto devices and export the HEX and do this-that to get it going? Or is there a newer, better, cheaper way nowadays?

Thanks for any advice.
