I too am looking to upgrade my 6000 and 7000 to TouchSquid remote solution. If you make any progress or would like to discuss in more detail, I'd be happy with you.
My current setup is: 7000 Downstairs Living Room: BD player TV DirecTV cable box DishNet cable box AV reciever scaler HDMI matrix switcher
Theater Room: Projector Scaler BD player AV reciever
Upstairs: 6000 TV AV Receiver Roku DVD player Dishnet Cable box Logitech Squeezebox
I have 2 Android tablets and would like to replace each remote with a tablet. I know that I will need secondary pieces like a iTach on each floor and/or room to translate the codes to IR, so there is that additional cost, plus the time involved in customizing the tablets.
From reading your post, that's not really answering your question. I don't know that you can reuse the RFX units, you would have to find a remote that outputs RF at specifically the frequency of the RFX unit. This is another reason I hadn't changed, I also have an RFX unit. With the WiFi-IR iTach unit, you use your existing WiFi network instead of RF and have the ITach units do the translation instead of the RFX units.
Hope this helps.
