Here is what I would like in an ideal remote.

IR control
IP control
Bluetooth control (not a huge deal for me)
Ability to program everything yourself (ie - no dealer)
Free or inexpensive drivers for devices?
Ability to use tradition remote or smartphone/tablet
Database of codes for almost all devices
Two way communication if at all possible for a given device

Is this too much to ask for?

I have been using Harmony remotes for over a decade and their new SmartControl system, which I just bought, comes very close but it doesn't do the IP control. There is no reason why it can't since it has IP connectivity but this would cause lots of support issues. But it would allow two way communication.

Maybe someone needs to start such a project with something like a Raspberry Pi coupled with an IR blaster and Bluetooth dongle. The hardware cost should be not much more than $60 or so, the problem is the software.
