Well after a few attempts I was able to downgrade to the older firmware version 3.2.17 and eventually got it to successfully download to the RC9500 and it came back to life. But that was after several unsuccessful downloads and program freeze-ups.

But every time it came back with that older version and then I tried to download the latest version in the file section (3.10.5)...that version even when it said it ran to completion leaves the RC9500 dead. No reset, battery pull, nothing brings it back. All I can do is re-download the older firmware to bring it back.

It then accepted my config and now I think I am back where I started.

But I guess the question is why won't it accept the most recent firmware?

I am running it on the oldest PC I have running Vista. Although Wizzit wanted XP compatibility mode to run, it seems like I had the most success with the older firmware, just running it straight.

Anyway, any thoughts? I wonder if there is truly something wrong with this remote....
